Overview

The menu bar is where Dev WorkDir lives. Click the icon for instant access to your projects — no need to open the full window.

Most of the time, you won’t even need the main window.

What You Can Do from the Menu Bar

Recent Projects

See your 10 most recent projects at a glance.

Hover over any project to see actions:

  • Open in your default editor
  • Open in a specific editor (submenu)
  • Run the project
  • Run alternate scripts

Create Project

Start a new project from anywhere — even if the main window is closed.

  1. Click the menu bar icon
  2. Click “Create Project”
  3. Choose a template and go

Open Main Window

Need the full interface? Click “Open Main Window” or press the shortcut.

Speed

Click → hover → click. Your project is open in under 2 seconds.

Context

Keep Dev WorkDir running in the background. It’s always there when you need it, out of the way when you don’t.

You don’t need a full project management window open all day. The menu bar gives you just what you need, when you need it.

Tips & Tricks

1. Quick Switch Between Projects

Working on multiple things?

  1. Click the menu bar icon
  2. Hover over the next project
  3. Click “Open in [Editor]”
  4. Done.

No Finder windows, no navigating folders.

2. Create Projects on Impulse

Got an idea while browsing?

  1. Click menu bar → Create Project
  2. Pick a template
  3. 30 seconds later you’re coding

That’s vibe coding.

3. Keep the Menu Bar Icon Visible

If you have a lot of menu bar icons, Dev WorkDir might get hidden. To keep it visible:

  • Hold ⌘ and drag icons to rearrange them in the menu bar
  • Put Dev WorkDir somewhere easy to reach

4. Right-Click the Icon

Right-clicking the menu bar icon gives you quick access to:

  • Settings
  • About
  • Quit
